What data we collect
When you subscribe we collect the following personal data:
- Full name
- Home address (including postcode)
- Phone number
- Email address
- Collection preferences (council collection day, preferred ClearBin collection day)
- Payment information — collected and held by GoCardless on our behalf (see below)
Why we collect it
We use your personal data to:
- Provide the waste collection service you have subscribed to
- Schedule and coordinate your regular bin collections
- Bill you for the service via Direct Debit
- Contact you about your subscription, collection dates, or service updates
- Comply with any legal obligations
Our lawful basis for processing is contract performance — we need your data to fulfil the collection service you have agreed to.
Direct Debit and GoCardless
Your Direct Debit is set up and managed by GoCardless Ltd, an authorised payment institution regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Your bank account details are passed directly to GoCardless and are never stored by ClearBin Waste Services. GoCardless has its own privacy policy which governs how they handle your payment data.
Where your data is stored
Your account and subscription data is stored securely in Supabase, a cloud database platform. Data is stored in data centres located within the European Economic Area (EEA).
How long we keep your data
We retain your personal data for as long as you hold an active subscription. If you cancel, we will retain your data for a further period to comply with any legal or financial obligations (typically up to 6 years for financial records). After that, your data will be securely deleted.
